Forecast for Saturday 12/5

Today: Mostly cloudy skies. Highs ranging from 37 in Buffalo to 33 in the higher terrain.

Tonight: Becoming partly cloudy on the Niagara Frontier. Mostly cloudy with weak bands of lake effect snow developing near the state line. Local accumulation of an inch or two possible...especially along the Chautauqua Ridge. Lows ranging from 32 near the lakeshore to 28 in Buffalo...but dropping to near 20 in rural valleys.

Tomorrow: Weak bands of lake effect snow continuing near the state line through mid-morning, then lifting north. Snow showers may reach the Buffalo metro area by mid-afternoon. Local accumulation of an inch or so possible...especially in the Southern Tier during the morning. Brisk and cold with highs ranging from 35 in Buffalo to 31 in the higher terrain.

Monday: Becoming mostly cloudy with snow showers or a steady light snow developing around midday. A few heavier snow squalls possible late in the day. Areas of lake effect snow developing south of Buffalo at night. High near 39. Low near 29.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy with a chance of snow showers and perhaps some lake effect snow in the morning, then becoming partly sunny. High near 37. Low near 32.

Wednesday: Cloudy with a good chance of snow or a wintry mix...possibly changing to rain before ending late. Precipitation may be heavy at times. Becoming very windy and much colder at night with potentially significant lake snows developing. High near 35. Low near 30.

Thursday: Very windy and cold with snow showers and potentially significant lake snows. Temperatures holding steady in the 20s.
