Forecast for Friday 12/4

Today: Heavy lake effect snow focused along and north of a line from Buffalo to Cheektowaga to Alden. Snowfall rates may reach 1-2" per hour with occasional thunder and lightning. 3-6" of accumulation expected with locally heavier amounts...but little to no accumulation near the immediate lakeshore. South of the lake effect snow, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy. Windy and cold with highs ranging from 37 in Buffalo to 33 in the higher terrain. Wind gusts may reach 35 mph at times.

Tonight: Lake effect snow remaining stationary along and north of a line from Buffalo to Cheektowaga to Alden, but slowly weakening throughout the night. An additional 2-4" of accumulation is possible with locally heavier amounts...bringing the storm total up to 5-10" or more. Partly cloudy and cold south of the lake effect snow. Lows ranging from 32 near the lakeshore to 29 in Buffalo...but dropping to near 20 in Southern Tier valleys.

Tomorrow: Mostly cloudy and cold. Highs ranging from 37 in Buffalo to 33 in the higher terrain.

Sunday: Partly to mostly cloudy and cold. High near 37. Low near 28.

Monday: Generally overcast with a steady light snow arriving late in the day or at night. High near 39. Low near 29.

Tuesday: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers and perhaps some areas of heavier lake effect snow. High near 37. Low near 30.

Wednesday: Cloudy with a good chance of snow or a wintry mix. Precipitation may be heavy. High near 35. Low near 30.
